Traveler Information
Vatican City Parking is available to the public in the area surrounding St. Peter’s Square. Parking is available in designated areas along the street and in the underground car park located at the Vatican Museums.
Parking is free in the Vatican Museums car park, but it can be very busy so it is recommended to arrive early. Parking is also available in several private lots and garages located near the Vatican City. These private lots and garages may charge a fee for parking.
Vatican City offers a few parking options, but we recommend using the public parking garage at Piazza Risorgimento. The Sistine Chapel, St. Peter’s Basilica, and other popular attractions are just a short walk away from this parking garage. A reasonable fee is charged for parking in the garage, which is open 24 hours a day.
The roads surrounding the Vatican City are generally narrow and crowded, and drivers should be aware that traffic laws are strictly enforced. Drivers should take extra caution when driving in the area and always follow the rules of the road.
